CLUB FLYING SITE

(extracted from the 2006 HMAC members handbook on 19th November 2005. Updated 26/06/08)

The club flying site is situated in the village of Much Marcle, Herefordshire and is approached via the drive way to the right of Weston's garage.   Much Marcle is situated on the A449 about half way between Ledbury and Ross-on-Wye.   Click here for a map showing the location of our flying field.

The field is some 30 acres with a well maintained mown strip and club house. The Clubhouse is kept locked and all members are entitled to know the padlock combination. Please contact the Secretary or any other committee member for the number. The field is often also occupied by sheep. HMAC club site at Much Marcle
Here's a picture of the club hut, car park and pits area taken in November 2003. The flying strip is right behind the photographer (Antony Redding). Click here to view a high resolution image (95kB) in a new window.

The club house is kept locked and members are entitled to know the combination number. Please contact the secretary or any other committee member for this.

The site is not considered suitable for Free Flight, Jets and Turbines, or Rotary Wing.   This is because of limitations of flight boundaries and noise.

Limitations are placed on times for flying model aircraft powered by internal combustion engines and fast electric aircraft.   Silent flight, including low powered electric aircraft, may be undertaken during all daylight hours within the permitted flight envelope, subject to any exceptional circumstances as may be notified from time to time.

FLYING HOURS ARE LIMITED.   Click here to view the current flying hours schedule.   Please note that All flying must cease at dusk and members must pay particular attention to the NO GO flying areas.

All Members are required to complete the Attendance Book, on the appropriate dated page, whenever they fly, to show name, signature, time of arrival, and time of departure. (added 24/04/2008 per committee-approved amendment slip 2/2008)
