Welcome to our last newsletter of 2007. Not the best year for weather but we were lucky with the Show weekend, especially as so many shows up and down the country were casualties of the monsoons.
The Annual General Meeting took place on 29th November. 15 members turned up.The 2007 Committee was re-confirmed for 2008 with the addition of Gerald Matthews who is a welcome addition to the committee. Club assets are now in excess of £19,000 and the meeting felt that there was no justification for an increase in fees - they will remain unchanged for 2008. Because we still have some backlog in training the waiting list has been retained for any new members. John Warner has kindly taken over the Club Training model for the time being. John has asked me to record his thanks to Antony Redding, Gordon Saville and Jan and Ken Forty for their help in getting money in for the Show and helping to ensure the books are in good order.

The Field
The strip will be cut through the winter on an "as required" basis. The sheep are most likely back on the field by the time you receive this (or soon will be) so the electric fence is important. At the AGM we were asked for some instructions on how to ensure the fence is effective so here goes:ANY PROBLEMS, ALERT A COMMITTEE MEMBER
- ensure the wire can run FREELY through the plastic posts. Take up slack by rotating the drum and insert the pin to hold the drum in position. DO NOT wrap the strand around the plastic posts.
- ensure the wire does NOT touch the metal posts otherwise the fence is useless.
- the positive (RED ) crocodile clip from the battery is fastened to the wire and the negative clip to the metal post which carries the control unit.
- underneath the control unit (Front, right) is a toggle switch for on/off.
- switch off before touching the battery leads.Reconnect the clips after flying, before switching on. When on you will hear the electronic pulse and see a red flashing light in the control unit panel
- make sure the battery leads (or any leads) do not lie in the grass.
- make sure the battery cover is firmly anchored in place.
- always make sure the wire is taut.
- when the lambs arrive there will be a second wire in place.
That is all for now.
From the Committee - Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year!
