Another year nearly gone by and the field is still pretty wet and soggy. 2007 and 2008 really have been couple of poor years for model flying. Let's hope for better things in 2009.
Now that the AGM has come and gone this will be the last newsletter of 2008.
41st Annual General Meeting
The 41st Annual General Meeting of the club was held on 27th November. 14 members attended together with our President, Mrs. Anne Powell. The present committee members were re-elected with the secretary (me) and Treasurer (John Warner) continuing in position. John Cross was elected as an additional committee member. Welcome, John! Anne Powell continues as President with Tim Weston as Vice-President.
As you can imagine, some considerable time at the AGM was spent reviewing the sad results of cancelling our Show at the last minute. The financial loss was £6646.61, which would have been more had not several of our suppliers acted very reasonably in reducing their bills. Also, over £3000 has been pre-paid for the 2009 Show by traders and campers who asked us to hold on to their money for next year.
Over the year the running costs of the club exceeded income by £702.32.This featured highly in the discussion of fees for 2009, a discussion which ended in fees being agreed as follows:
Senior ---------- Club fee £50, BMFA £28, Total £78
Junior ---------- Club fee £20, BMFA £15, Total £35
Family Junior --- Club fee £10, BMFA £11, Total £21
