HMAC Newsletter No 2009/5
1st December 2009

Bernard Morris

Welcome to the last newsletter of 2009. This has been a mixed year for flying - a few spells of reasonable weather, a damaged field for some weeks and monsoons and gales for most of November. At least it is never boring. We have a number of topics to cover so let's start with the AGM held on 19th November.

AGM
Fourteen members attended. This year we were very pleased to enjoy some refreshments at the end of the meeting, laid on by John and Bron Warner. Our thanks to them. Maybe we can repeat this at future meetings?

Your Committee for 2010 will be: Antony Redding (Chairman), John Warner (vice Chairman and Treasurer), Bernard Morris (Secretary and Show Organiser), Alan Reynolds, Ben Bates, Gerald Matthews and Andy Mawman, who we welcome as a new member of the Committee. Andy is co-opted until he completes 12 months with the Club next February when he becomes an elected member.

Financial results for 2009 showed that we lost £1209 due to cancelling the Show and had a deficit of £991 in running the day-to-day activities of the Club. Most of the Club expense is down to grass cutting and most of our income is from subscriptions. The meeting agreed increased subscriptions for 2010, listed below, which more closely reflect the true cost of running the Club.

We reviewed the reasons for cancelling the 2009 Show and agreed that we should try again in 2010 - on 4th and 5th September.

Two committee members have stepped down- John Cross, who has moved away , and Colin Clark after many, many years of service to the Club. Our thanks to both gentlemen.

Mrs. Anne Powell has been our President for many years and she has also decided to step down. Frank Powell has kindly agreed to take her place. Tim Weston continues as vice-President. Our thanks to Anne for her unstinting support over the years.

As an AOB item, Andy Mawman suggested we might hold a car boot sale or bring-and buy so members could clear out some of their unwanted modelling goods. Anyone interested should call Andy on 01531 660355 and he will review with the committee at our first meeting in 2010.

Correction
In the last newsletter I gave the wrong telephone number for Tony Grubb who has been appointed a noise tester. The correct number is 01981 540881. My apologies for the error.

Finally, from the Committee and from me, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
