AGM

May I firstly remind you all of the forthcoming AGM at the Royal Oak, Much Marcle, on 17th November at 8.00pm. Since sending out the notice of the AGM in early October I have now received two nominations for next year's committee.
One nomination is for Antony Redding, proposed by Ben Bates and seconded by John Warner. Antony first joined the Club as a junior in the mid 1980s and (apart from the normal distractions outside modelling in his formative years!) has over time held most positions in the Club, including Chairman. He has a wide range of experience in model flying and is a registered BMFA Club instructor.
The other nominee is Alan Reynolds, proposed by Antony Redding and seconded by Ben Bates. Alan has been a member for over 30 years and has held almost every office known to the Club including Chairman/vice chairman for some 20 years. He, with the help of his wife Nicki, has been involved in various ways in running the Club Show from 1972 to 2004. Alan is also a registered Club instructor, having taught yours truly to fly 20 years ago.
There are also two propositions for constitution changes as itemised on the enclosed updated agenda, plus a couple of items of AOB received to date.
Please make every effort to attend. The meeting will be held in the Function Room at the Royal Oak.

New Members

We welcome the following new members:
Mansel David of Ross-on-Wye,
Chris Griffiths of Hereford,
Carl Williams and his son, Thomas, of Hereford,
Barry Hill of Ledbury.
We are now up to 55 members all told, including eight Juniors.

Training

The Tuesday evening sessions have now finished, due to lack of daylight!
From 1st November, after the clocks have changed and we are on winter flying hours, we will hold Training sessions on Tuesday afternoons from 2.00pm for those who are able to attend then. For those unable to be there on Tuesday afternoons I will have the Trainer available on Saturday afternoons starting at 1.00pm. Obviously, all this is dependent on the weather.
Interestingly, we started the Tuesday evenings at the beginning of May and went on until 11th October and lost only three evenings due to weather during that time.
Congratulations to Jeff Hawkins and Chris Gordon who have passed their BMFA "A" F/W tests

27 Meg trial

This trial has now run for well over six months and I am pleased to say that the committee has agreed to reinstate 27 Meg permanently. We will need to put together a suitable frequency control system. If anyone has something suitable perhaps you would let me know.

Noise tests

As a Committee member or a nominated tester must be present at all tests the committee has agreed that it is no longer necessary for successful test results to be scrutinised by the committee before being sent out to the member. This does not mean any relaxation of noise test requirements but removes what is seen to be an unnecessary step.

The field

The grass will continue to be cut as necessary through the winter (probably monthly but our Lawn Doctor will do what is necessary depending on weather) with the intention of ensuring the current high quality of our strip is maintained and, where possible, improved even more. The sheep are likely to be on the field until they have eaten their way through all the grass so please ensure the electric fence is in good state. The sheep are occasionally moved off the field for a day or two but always keep the fence in place until we have been told they have moved on permanently. If you encounter any problems on the field please tell me or tell another committee member. Be careful with vehicles as the field gets wetter. Keep to the right as you enter and only drive on if the surface is suitable.

Christmas Dinner

This is arranged for 10th December at the Royal Oak, Much Marcle at 7.30 for 8.00pm. As relatively few members have attended the Dinner recently it has been agreed by the committee that it is not appropriate for the Club to continue funding this event. Enclosed you will find a booking form from our Social Secretary, Colin Clark. The cost is £15 per head and this is a very reasonable price for a good quality meal and an enjoyable evening. Please send your reply to Colin as detailed on the form.

That is it for now. I hope to see you at the AGM. Remember, that is where next year's Club fees are set!!!! Best regards, Bernard Morris
