Much Marcle Large Model Flying Display
September 2003

(page updated 10th October 2003)

We had perfect weather for our model show this year (13th & 14th September).   Large crowds enjoyed first class display flying by the U.K's top show pilots on both days.   There was plenty on offer at the trade stands too.

Several people, including pilots and members of the general public have remarked that they thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. Our treasurer reports that attendance (and takings) are a little up from last year.

I've managed to overwrite (and therefore lose) the digital photographs that I took during the show!   The pictures below were taken from my video of the show; hence the rather poor quality.   Hopefully next year we'll organise a photographer to make a proper record of the show for our web-site.

Tx control Meanwhile in the transmitter control tent Jim Andrews, John Shorey and David Conning prepare to receive and organise the issue of over sixty transmitters. Efficient scheduling ensured that aircraft were airbourne practically continuously throughout the show.

DeHavilland Comet Steve Holland's Comet racer is manouevred into position on a busy flight line.

Prop hanging We were treated to several exciting aerobatic displays.   Here there are two aircraft "prop-hanging" alarmingly close to the ground.

Wellington and B17 We had fighter aircraft from both World Wars, flown in groups but never mixing WW1 and WW2 types.   Here Father & son Andy and Dave Johnson are seen taking off to thrill the crowd with another fine display of formation flying with their Wellington bomber and B17 "flying Fortress".
